MUSÉE D'ORSAY

Today I had the morning free, so I spent a few hours at the Musée d'Orsay on the Seine.  The building used to be a train station, but has long since been a big, beautiful museum with amazing views of the city, and Montmartre in the distance.  Added bonus, it was only a ten minute walk from my class this afternoon!

Today I ended up in the 6th arrondissement, with a half hour to kill.  After wandering for a bit, found this enormous church and fountain.

Welcome to the 9th arrondissement, my home until December (at least)! I planned to visit the Montmartre Cemetery today, but it was supposed to rain, so I stuck close by and took some photos.

Roughly translated, "In memory of the students from this school, deported from 1942 to 1944 because they were born jews, innocent victims of the Nazi barbarity and of the government of Vichy.  More than 300 children from the 9th arrondissement were exterminated in the death camps.  Never forget them."
