CHATEAUX DE LA LOIRE

This weekend, the BC crew and I hopped in a bus (at 7:30 a.m...) and headed off to see the castles of the Loire Valley.  We saw four, in two days, which was a whole lot of castles, but each one was better than the last.

First up: Chambord
Quick note on castles: while beautiful, they are very very chilly.  The tapestries are supposed to help with that, but either they've lost their insulating powers after 300ish years, or those kings and queens were tougher than I am.  Luckily they lit fires in a few of the rooms, and stationed heating lamps on each floor, around which the tourists hovered like moths.
Looking down on the courtyard from the roof-top balconies.
Next up: Blois
Quite a ceiling!
We kicked off day two with a tour of Ambroise
Fun surprise: Da Vinci is buried here!

Last, but definitely my favorite, Chenonceaux.
In full castle-touring mode: audioguide, funky headphones, and camera all at the ready.
Heard a weird noise, and when I peeked over the wall, there was an old man doing a kick set in the river!
Fin!!
