VENEZIA PART II

Part two, here we go!
The winged venetian lion
Riding the vaporetto!
The Ottoman/Byzantine looking doorways and windows were beautiful, and a far cry from Haussmann!
Gelatto!  I went for lemon and chocolate; Kelly had chocolate mousse and stracciatella.

Degrees of submersion
The Rialto Market (the red awnings made for strange photos)
While Kelly headed off to class Monday, I popped over to Murano, the glass-blowing island.

Ciao Venezia!!

VENEZIA PART I

This weekend I popped on a plane, and spent a beautiful 48 hours in Venice with Kelly.  The sun was out, and with it hoards of tourists, a large portion of whom had chosen to participate in some sort of highly disorganized run/walk, the cause of which was unclear. We were salmon swimming upstream to the Guggenheim.
San Marco, the most beautiful church I have ever seen.  The photos don't do it justice; you'll just have to go in person..
The view onto the canal from Peggy G.'s (the Guggenheim)
The most amazing collection. Incredible art, and an incredible lady.
In the sculpture garden, amongst the Giacomettis, lies Peggy Guggenheim, and all of her dogs. (funny sidenote, some tourists were horrified when they saw this and thought she had had 14 children, and had crammed them all into a small plot of her garden..)
Ciao ciao!
