VERNET PART I

Most of the fam. is now in France!!  After staying in the Hôtel Abeille overnight, we arrived in Vernet-les-bains, a little town in the Pyrenees-Orientales.  We spent our first full day doing lots of walking, and lots of photo taking, with regular breaks for chocolate.
One of Caroline's many selfies
Olives look pretty on trees, but they do not taste so great, and they stain your mouth black...
A friendly neighbor
We hiked up to a fortress that had been built by Louis XIV to protect the french portion of Catalonia from the Spanish.
Posing with the informational handout (which Caroline and I ignored in favor of exploration)
Wish you were here, Roman and Syd-nay-nay!
